Core workout questions

Hey all, I just finished fb booty round 2, and after feeling a big difference in my thighs and butt I’ve decided to start focusing on my core.

My problem is that I don’t think my abs are strong enough for a lot of the core videos, and I’m not sure what I should do or how I can get them ready. What makes me say this is that I can’t get basic form right. For a lot of the ab excercises that include laying on your back and lifting your legs, I can’t get my back to lay flat against the floor without struggling a lot and compromising the rest of my form, even with modifications. Did anybody have a similar problem or know any preparations excercises?
