Hi there, Pals! How are you today? It’s going to be a busy day here and a colleague of mine is coming in with her baby. I’m not particularly enthusiastic about babies but I like my colleague and if I like you, I like your baby. That’s the rule.
In other news, I started doing Build with Tasha (for the second time, I did it in August) and today was Day 3, a nice core routine with exercises requiring balance which is not easy for me especially at 5.15 a.m. … I powered through, though so I wasn’t dissatisfied with my performance.
Let’s move on to our fact-finder fragment. Have you ever wondered why we rub our eyes when we’re tired? Tired eyes are often dry eyes and rubbing them stimulates the body to produce tears, which moisten them. The muscles around your eyes are also connected to the muscles around your heart via a system of arteries and nerves, so rubbing your eyes can also slow your heart rate, making you feel more relaxed and ready to sleep. Interesting, isn’t it? Also, have you ever wondered why stretching is so satisfying? One of the connective tissues, ‘fascia’ supports your muscles and can make them feel either stiff or limber. It’s made of collagen. When you’re moving around its fibres are loosened; if you’re still for a long time, they get stitched closer together. When it’s in this close-knit state, it makes moving your limbs more painful. That’s why stretching the fibres feels so good. Stretching also releases endorphins. (tell this to my body…) (source: 222 QI Answers to Your Quit Ingenious Questions)
All right Pals, in the meantime there was a baby here who never cried once! and played with my hand. I called him kiwifruit head because of his downy hair but he didn’t take offence.
PS, this was the sky last week. The photo doesn’t give justice to how beautiful it looked.
