Anyone else think split squats should have a name change to pulsing lunge instead?
There's a difference in the muscle groups that are recruited between lunges and squats, and I find with split squats/pulsing lunges basically, my weight capacity is dramatically different (lower) compared to regular squat vs. For instance regular squats and pistol squats weights are closer in comparison.
I run into trouble when split squats come up because my brain reads the word "squats" and automatically goes for a heavier weight, which I cannot then sustain with anything close to proper form for a pulsing lunge. Haha our brains are weird.
I also see no one seems to have pistol squats anymore in the newer routines. I am thinking I might go back to pistol squats instead of split squats if the routine has rev/fwd lunges elsewhere in the routine.
