PPals 1 November

Hello Pals! Welcome to November. Let's start off with a couple of bad dad jokes:

Q: What is the opposite of November?

A: Yes-vember!

Q: Why did the cranberry blush?

A: It saw the turkey dressing!

Now that we've got that out of the way, how are you guys today? Did you all have a good Halloween? I haven't been able to sleep much lately so I am very tired. Saw some kids trick-or-treating, more than previous years, but I didn't buy any candy and no one stopped at my house. Here, the secret signal that you want trick-or-treaters to come past is to put some Halloween decorations out. I didn't put out any decorations so no trick-or-treaters. I did mention to someone, an Australian, that I found Australian Halloween rather pitiful. For instance, there are no jack o'lanterns here. Do you know what she said? She said, and I kid you not, what is a jack o'lantern. My point exactly.

In other November news, I need to print off my ballot and vote in the American election. I was sent the thing in September and still haven't done it. The hardest part is finding a printer and then taking it to the post office and paying for overseas delivery. Last week I voted in my 1st Australian election. It was just a local election for council, all by post. The only indication that there was an election at all was that I got several notifications from the Electorial Commission telling me to vote (you get fined if you don't vote), and a few junk mail flyers in the letterbox. There were 7 candidates, most whom I had never heard of, and you had to rank them 1 - 7. Each candidate wrote a little blurb, and no parties were listed. Most of them expressed outrage about the number of potholes...I have never noticed any potholes but what do I know. There is some complicated system of counting up the votes, so if one person gets a moderate number of 1st choice votes but another person gets a large number of 2nd choice votes, then some math happens and actually I can't remember how it is calculated, but the results won't be released for another week at least. It's all very slow and boring. Apparently our biggest problem is imaginary potholes.

Enough of that, on to exercise. Anything on the workout menu? How about the food menu? I think I'll be making Massaman curry. I badly need some activity, my knees were really mad for most of October and I hardly did anything. They are feeling a fair bit better now with the long rest, though the rest of me is now feeling kinda stale. Hey! I just remembered the outdoor public saltwater pool opens today. It is certainly my favourite pool due to its lack of chlorine, but given that it's only 17* today it might be a little on the chilly side.

That's it from me. I'll attach some animal spam for your viewing pleasure. Look at that handsome boy.
