seated leg lifts and sweeps

Hi FB Family. I have been going through a lot of the old videos which I feel are amazing! And there are a lot of moves in them that I don't find in the newer videos. One example is the seated leg lift and sweeps (lifted in front of you and swept to the side).

I simply can not do this move! Anybody have ideas on substitutes that would target the same muscles, or hints on how to do it properly? I simply can't do more than a couple of them, and not even in good form! Help!
