New Guided Practice for Reconnecting with Your Body Postpartum
This practice is for anyone who has given birth recently (or ever, honestly). There is no consensus on when the postpartum period ends, but when it pertains to body image and connection with one's body, I think that one changes for life.
Having a baby changes our world in so many ways and the impacts live on for a long time. One such impact is on our relationship with our body. It is incredibly common for people to feel disconnected from or even apathetic toward their body after giving birth.
I know for myself I just sort of mentally disconnected from my body as a way to protect myself from the feelings that might come. My solution to not being phased by the “bounce back” expectation was to just not think about it. In retrospect, that maybe wasn’t the best way to deal with things and I wish I had a practice like this to follow. So, give this one a try and let us know in the comments below what you’re grateful for about your postpartum body!
