I tried to hula hoop once after the stroke a long time ago already and couldn't do it. I used to love adding 10 minutes of weighted hooping (I have a weighted hula hoop, see picture) after workouts. It got my heart rate up really high and it burns tons of calories so I was sad I wasn't able to do it anymore. I decided to try again today because I remember thinking the first time that it wasn't a very good attempt (don't remember why). I tried today, first with a regular light hoop and I could do it (I can still only go clockwise hahahahahah), so I went all in after my workout and tried the weighted hoop. I did it! It wasn't very smooth but I did it. And oh my I forgot how much it hurts the first time. I couldn't last longer than 5 minutes (2 times 2,5 minutes cause ouch!), so I'm going to have to build it up again, which doesn't take too long if I remember correctly, probably because I used to just grit my teeth and kept going. Only downside is it scares the everloving shit out of my cat haha. She ran away as soon as she saw the hoop. Big scary unknown thing. But anyway I CAN DO IT and I'll just be adding it to my workouts from next week.
