FB Reboot - complete ✔ Review & ramblings

Hello community,

I have seen a few messages here and there about Reboot in the past month or two so I wanted to write a review and summarise my thoughts because today marked the last day of the 8 week programme. I finished with Tasha's HIIT workout at 6.30am feeling even a little bit sad as Reboot has been my little workout buddy for 8 whole weeks!

My background is that I've been in various levels of fitness for 8 years. I'm a serial start-stopper. I start, keep at it for a few months, stop for whatever reason and don't return until 6-12 months later. I have been doing that for 8 long years. My habits outside of Fitnessblender have kept me in good health but I have gained weight in the last 12 months due to crazy work and slipping bad habits. Currently I am 33 years old and the heaviest I have ever been.

I started Reboot because the description fit me perfectly. I've been fit before, I had a hiatus, I want to get back into it. This programme was perfect for me in every way. It was correctly paced and the satisfaction of completing a more challenging week than the last was so motivating. I went from level 1 workouts to level 5 workouts in 8 weeks and that is just MAD. Around week 4 I was lifting the same weights as I was the last time I was consistently exercising.

Speaking of motivation, I don't think motivation really exists in exercising. Sorry, controversial! I think it's about habits and making working out easy and appealing. Motivation comes and goes but if you have a habit of exercising and an internal self-believe that YOU are a person WHO exercises, it just becomes part of the day. The single BIGGEST change I made during these 8 weeks was to start working out early in the morning before work. It is literally the only time in the day when I don't have anything else to do. I workout fasted so I don't have to think about digesting before exercising. This change has been so fundamentally successful that my hope is that this will be a turning point for me. I set out my workout clothes the night before, walk straight into them, my laptop is ready downstairs and I'm working out within 10 minutes of getting out of bed. It has been so much easier than I ever thought and while I hope I had done it earlier than this, I think this may have been the exact right time. I don't believe in motivation, I just believe in habits now.

Results...? Well, I have lost a bit of weight. Not much, about 1,5kgs (about 3 lbs). How do I feel? Really good, actually. I feel more comfortable in my skin and I have more energy (despite getting up at dawn!), I'm more focused and motivated at work, I have more energy to be present with my partner. I have not taken any measurements because I don't want my mood to be determined by numbers but I'm fairly certain I've lost a few cm here and there. And yes, I have also made fundamental changes in my eating habits, particularly sugar intake.

All this being said, I think Reboot has been a fantastic programme and it is possible that it has transformed something in me in a very fundamental way. I definitely recommend it to anyone who has been fit once and is used to working out. I can't make comments for beginners because I'm not a beginner. This has been my most enjoyable programme experience in my 8 years with Fitnessblender.

Next up: FB Abs and FB Strong! Here's to the next 8 weeks and beyond. :)
