Whenever I do a forearm side plank it hurts my supporting elbow. I use a yoga mat on a hardwood or carpeted floor, but even my extra-thick mat on carpet doesn't keep my elbow from hurting.
I have rubbish core strength, so it occurred to me that maybe the issue is that I'm dumping too much of my weight into my elbow, but side planks from the knee don't always feel okay to my supporting knee (and side plank hip dips or thread the needle *always* make the supporting knee slide until I end up falling onto my mat).
I can do a full side plank with thread the needle from my hand (and this is my go-to for an ordinary side plank, too), but my wrist aches if I try to do full side plank hip dips from the hand.
Does anyone have other suggestions for making side planks, especially those with hip dips, accessible to me? Thanks!
