Micro workouts throughout the day?

Hi community!!

Wondering if anyone has used or can share info or research about the effectiveness of mini or micro workouts throughout the day? Sometimes strength training sessions take longer than expected (i have old fashion dumbells) or I can't do a full 40 mins. session bc I need to get back to work. If i break it out 10-15 mins. intervals throughout the day, is it still effective?
