Possible covid after effects in regard to exercise
Hi everyone.
I've seen some topics here related to covid, but not yet one about the after effects of it in regard to exercise (I searched on "covid").
First off: I'm NOT sure if I contracted covid at any time, but I have a strong suspicion I've experienced it this past March. At that time it wasn't possible to test in my country, in my position. So I stayed home and waited until I had recovered, not sure if I was "just" sick or had covid.
When I could go outside again and got back to working out and running, I felt weird - like my lungs were working at a much lower capacity. Working out at home I'd feel wiped sooner and had to cough often. All things I wasn't used to since I've been in good condition for years. This lasted for about 2 weeks, I think.
Anyway, I build up my routine and tried HIIT again, which went well. I did feel a bit more tired sometimes, but like most people I don't perform at 100% all the time.
The past few weeks I've experienced an increase in possible "after effects". I've had some difficulty cycling a few times, where I felt tired quick, and today I went for a run but I felt really tired after just about 15 minutes. I came across an article which mentioned after effects that were common in people who had contracted covid months ago. It's been about 6 months now (IF I had it) and I recognize quite a bit. It's not continually bothering me, but I'm often feeling less fit than before.
I have had my blood checked because I want to rule out I have a shortage of certain vitamins or something. I'm having all kinds of vague things and I guess I'm dealing with waves of after effects. But I'm keeping an eye on it and am thinking of talking to my doctor about it, of nothing comes out of my blood test.
Have any of you experienced something likewise? It seems like people are like "oh, covid only affects older people/people who have health issues already, young people who are in good condition will have light symptoms or none at all", but I think some people underestimate the after effects, even on young, healthy people.
