I haven't been online for quite some time now and I haven't worked out at all for almost 2 months now. Just when I was about to start the last week of FB Fit 2, I fell sick with what I initally thought was just a flu. Well, after a while it got much worse and I have since been to the hospital and have seen various doctors. Apparently I have a possibly chronic, very rare, auto-inflammatory disease that affects the whole immune system. But I am feeling much better now. While it can't be cured, doctors are hoping that with meds we'll be able to lead the disease into a totally inactive state and it might even not come back at all or come back at various times.
It really is ironic though that this happened just at a time in my life when I was actually feeling better and fitter than ever and when I was actually taking care of my body. The causes of this disease are actually unknown, nobody knows where it comes from and why it happens in general.
Anyway, the disease is still in an active state, although it has much improved since the beginning. It also affects the joints, mostly in the feet, knees and hands and in the beginning I have barely been able to move at all. After having spent weeks of lying just in bed, I have now been cleared by my doctor to do some fitness that is very easy on the joints, like yoga, pilates or swimming. So I decided to start FB Reach tomorrow and combine it with a bit of light walking.
My doctor said not to do weight training for now which is too bad because I really loved strength training before! I have also really noticed how my body composition has changed for the worse in the last two months. :( The meds I have to take also have muscle loss and gaining fat as a side effect unfortunately. But I am now slowly reducing the dose from week to week (on my doctor's order of course).
But, I am glad that now I am at least able to do any physical activity at all again! I really need that. Hopefully, in a few weeks or months I can even start using weights again.
Not really a question here, I just felt like I needed to share. I hope you have a good sunday everyone.
