Getting abs with FB Abs 2 - Week 6/9

Two thirds of the project done and this week was quite an interesting one. I did the second week of FB Abs round 2 again, which had three core-focused days and twice total body strength plus HIIT cardio. I already mentioned in one of the last postings that the core training didn't challenge me quite as much as I liked, so we got ourselves a set of ankle weights. They are pretty light, just 0.5 kg for each arm and 1 kg for each leg, but man, they made a difference! With these weights many core exercises suddenly became really challenging again and the particular workout days became much swettier than before. I have no doubt there will be some nice gains in core strength during the next weeks! :)

Also in terms of nutrition there have been some changes. During the last weeks I dropped weight a little too quickly (around 2 lbs per week), so I increased my calories by roughly 100 to a total of 2400 calories per day. This little increase actually made quite a difference and gave an appreciated boost to my energy. Also I was at a friend's barbecue yesterday, featuring some nice, cold beers and really good food. As always, I didn't track when eating outside and just wrote down a rough estimation of 4000 calories for the whole day. It's really nice to see that days like this can be integrated into a weight loss phase and don't cause any kind of significant throwback. I've done this round about once every other week throughout the whole phase and still I made/make pretty decent progress.

Despite the increased daily calories and the barbecue party, the scale went down a little from 171.3 lbs to 171.0 lbs, which I am totally happy with. Looking forward to see the results of the next weeks, when I stay completely on track with my nutrition. I am aiming for 1 lb per week and I am pretty positive to hit that goal.

I added a picture with the cool, new weights, taken after Friday's intense core training. My wife was so kind to photoshop He-Man's pants into the picture, since I don't really want to force the sight of my sweaty underpants on you. xD I think the strength training of the last months and the recent HIIT training had quite a nice effect on my legs. Definitely got alot stronger compared to last year. :)

As always, I wish all of you a nice Sunday, a good start into the next week and all the best for your own projects and programs!
