Gardenblender: this entails exercising in our communal garden and parking area with hubby and a lady from one of the downstairs apartments!
Some of the exercises we did today were T Stabilisation, Walk Down plus shoulder taps, torso twist x 3 plus knee, hip dips, using the walls, the steps, the bench etc etc, as well as running around the whole apartment block several times. Very nice and very sweaty; then suddenly my husband commented that he recognized quite a few of the exercises from the FB workouts we had done on Monday and yesterday.... well yes, that is more or less the idea: working out together based on the exercises as well as what I have learned from Fitnessblender! Even Hubby himself actually at one point said: “keep your lungs open!” I felt like saying: “Yes, Daniel”! So there!!!
Anyway, we usually chat and joke as well as work hard, and somehow we got talking about the ‘sit and rise’ test. This test was devised by a Brasilian doctor and was correlated with longevity in a group of 51-80 year olds. (btw There are loads more indicators of good health, flexibility, muscle strength and fitness, but this is one of them). You are supposed to be on bare feet, cross your legs and sit down and then stand up again, without as little support as possible. Any support, like a hand or knee, will lead to a deduction of points. At the beginning of March I had practised it, because of a health check I had to have, but which actually didn’t include this test after all! I was really annoyed at myself that I could not score the perfect 10, I had to use a hand to help me get up! Today, as I explained to our neighbour what it entailed and then demonstrated it, much to my surprise I actually managed it, I scored a perfect 10!!!! Yay, I guess all the workouts from LI round 2 and the increased running have led to this to me important NSV !!!!
