May 5 (Half-)Workout

Today's workout was "Abs and Lower Body Pilates Workout for Beginners" https://www.fitnessblender.com/videos/abs-and-lower-body-pilates-workout-for-beginners but I actually only did half of the workout (up to Water Break).

Additionally, I did an extra set of 10 crunches while watching this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Bf_WQYE30I because I had a hard time doing the crunches and wanted to learn more about this move.

Finally I went straight to cool down.

This workout reminded me of how bad at core/abs I am, compared to other areas. My overall fitness level is not very good BUT with upper and lower body exercises, I could do the low impact move with no problem; eg. lower body I can do lunges with good form (but with lighter/no weights), side step lunges (but get up every 15 seconds instead of doing the entire 45 seconds), etc. I also found it fairly easy to improve as long as I do the workouts regularly. But for core/abs, even with this beginner-friendly workout and Daniel's super detailed explanation about the moves, I was barely able to follow the moves properly. 😭 For example, without using my hand to prop myself up I could barely lift up my torso for the side crunches. Pulled some lats muscles too from being frustrated and exerting force from the wrong point (I _know_ I shouldn't have done that, it was out of reflex and I immediately stopped myself). Also did not help that my stomach is the literal biggest part of my body (I'm average weight but have a large pot belly), making it harder to take visual cue while doing workouts like this one. Maybe doing more planks / crunches will help in the future? 🤔

Today's workout music: The Marías - Best Of https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fTJ0Pvt56aI , thanks to YouTube recommendation! Lovely indie pop album with "twee" female vocals. I thought they came from Spain or Latin Americas but interestingly they are from the US.

Have you all done your workout today?
