FB Flex&Booty Round 2 Complete - Review

As the title suggests I finished two programmes almost at the same time so obviously a review is in order. Although I’ve been doing programmes since April 2018 now, I’ve never combined them. I found it too daunting but since both Flex and Booty are 3-days-a-week programmes I thought I could do them at the same time without killing myself in the process. (I did spend some time rescheduling because I didn’t want to work out 6 days a week.)

I’ve done both programmes before so I was familiar with their structure. They are a combination of upper- (Flex) and lower-(Booty) body routines with mostly strength training spiced up with some HIIT and cardio. The individual routines vary in length and there are extra credit challenges as well which means that if you’re willing, some days you can work out for over 45 minutes. I’m not saying I did every single extra credit challenge but whenever I had more time and energy I gave it a go.

If you can spare a couple of minutes to read my first review about Flex, you’ll find that I wasn’t particularly impressed by the results. I didn’t feel stronger, I couldn’t really see any changes but it was mostly due to the fact that I did Flex about one and a half years ago, it was my fifth programme and I expected a small miracle. Don’t make the same mistake. Keep going back to programmes and you’ll be surprised by your progress.

Since I’ve always preferred upper-body routines to lower-body ones, I enjoyed Flex more than Booty, which based on my observations contain more HIIT and cardio, but regardless of my preferences, they are both suitable for those wishing to get a stronger and more toned upper or lower body. I did Booty 2 last year when my elbow was injured and I was really grateful to have a programme that allowed me to continue working out despite my injury.

As for combining the two programmes, I won’t lie it was a bit challenging from time to time. I tried to push myself which in turn made me quite sore so there were days when I couldn’t decide what’s more sore; my upper or my lower body. It’s doable, though so don’t be discouraged to give it a go.

I know I should talk about results as well but I’m always a bit reluctant; partly because no two bodies react the same way to a 4-week programme and partly because I’m not a good judge of my own achievements. However, if I have to mention my overall achievements ever since I started doing programmes, I couldn’t disregard the fact that I’m stronger and fitter. Is it visible? Well, in my case, not really. Most feedback I get is the old ‘you’re so thin’ or when people see how much I eat and how often I say ‘I’m HUNGRY’ the ‘how can you be so thin?’ Would I like to hear ‘Look at your arms! I see you work out.’? Yes, I would but I probably won’t. We all have to decide whether we do this to please others and meet various random expectations or to keep our bodies as healthy as possible. Given the consequence of these choices, I’m sure it’s not a difficult question to answer.

Thank you for reading my review and I hope you’ll enjoy Flex and either of the Booty programmes.
