My overall fitness goal is to lose weight, like most - but I don't mean make myself a size 6 or 8 within a year. I mean make progress however long it takes, as long as it's in the right direction. I couldn't care less if I stay in a size 14 for the rest of my life - I just want to be pleased with my weight and progress. I have the feeling I will always be a curvy gal as it seems to run through both sides of my family...but I'm happy with that - embrace it.
My short term goals are/have been 'much smaller' things such as completing a full interval of jump squats, or better my deadlift form etc.
Well let me tell ya this...I CAN NOW DO JUMPING LUNGES, SINGLE LEG HIP THRUSTS AND STAR JUMPS. All been completed within the last 2 weeks! Man, I'm over the moon. These things ain't small things - they're huge.
My goal for THIS YEAR is to push myself. Last year I was happy with my workouts but I just waltzed my way through them without challenging myself. I stuck to the same weights pretty much all year; if I knew I struggled with an exercise, I automatically did the low impact version; and nothing was a challenge. This year I want to attempt things that I don't usually do - and if I need to drop back to low impact THAT'S FINE, if I need to drop my weights ALSO FINE; at least I've tried.
I'm ecstatic that I can now do things that 2 months ago I would've pushed to one side. Set yourself small goals, and push yourself to achieve them.
