Cardiovascular Disease, Stroke, and Exercise

It almost goes without saying, but cardiovascular disease is a major concern for significant numbers of people around the world. In fact, in the United States alone, cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in adults and has a significant impact on the country’s overall health status.

The good news is that many of the risk factors associated with acquiring cardiovascular disease are modifiable, including through increases in physical activity and exercise.

Further, comprehensive exercise-based rehabilitation can actually help reduce the rate of mortality in patients following a heart attack.

Always make sure to talk to your doctor about any lifestyle changes you intend to make, of course, but cardiovascular disease risk can decrease significantly with regular physical activity.
