FB Bodyweight Round 1 - A Review

I finished Bodyweight Round 1 on Sunday and as usual, I thought I’d share my experiences with you. Last month I did Bodyweight Round 2 so this particular review is practically a comparison between the two programmes. I often read questions regarding two similar programmes, so hopefully I’ll be able to help you in case you can’t decide which one to choose.

Bodyweight 1 is comprised of slightly older workout routines so those of you who have regularly been scheduling your own programmes or routines might be more familiar with them. For some reason this programme seemed a bit easier than Round 2, though it is by no means a true indicator of how difficult the programme is. However, if you are a novice or slightly out of practice perhaps you should start with Round 1 instead of Round 2. Also, Round 1 starts with a PFT, which I stupidly skipped for various reasons, but I recommend doing it even if you have been regularly working out with FB for years. (I did the PFT – apart from running because I don’t have good quality shoes – when I finished the programme and I’ll repeat it next month.)

Although it’s a bodyweight programme, there were a couple of routines which required weights. I’m not saying they can’t be done without weights but I thought it would be a lot more efficient with them. As for the structure of the routines, they range from HIIT/cardio (although Round 2 contains a bit more HIIT routines) to kickboxing/strength and Pilates so it’s varied but I must admit that I preferred Round 2 simply because I personally found it more challenging. I’m rather critical of my own performance and any physical changes I can detect but I must admit that I did notice some subtle changes. Nobody would see them but I do and it’s enough because if I remind myself of the reason I started working out in the first place, (to get stronger and fitter) any change is welcome. Especially if you don't even need weights to get results.

I got injured back in February (lateral epicondylitis) and gripping and lifting weights was painful for a couple of months. However, I found the Bodyweight programmes enormously useful because I could go on exercising without pain and any further injury. So thank you Fitness Blender for the help! I actually started doing Round 2 once again because I’m still reluctant to lift weights when exercising my upper body but I tried yesterday anyway and it didn’t hurt, so fingers crossed.

If there was a Bodyweight Round 3, I would be the first one to buy it. *subtle hint without pressure*
