One of FB's recent social media posts got me thinking about activity level (both with and without exercise). I workout five days a week for roughly 45-60 minutes, and I also aim to hit 10,000 steps whenever possible (which is most of the time). The only problem with this, however, is that in order for me to reach this step goal I'm having to walk up to 50 minutes on the treadmill or outside everyday. It's a nice way to clear my head and all, but after a 50 minute workout, I often don't feel motivated to do it, therefore it just seems like a major chore. On days that I work I have no problem getting in steps without a long walk because I have an active job, but on days where I'm just at school and doing homework, there's no way it would happen without the extra walking.
I don't really know how people really define activity level anyhow, but I figure that I'm lightly/moderately active with both the working out and walking? I want to make sure I'm healthy and moving everyday, but sometimes it seems a little bit overwhelming. How do you all stay active outside of just plain working out? Do you worry at all about being too sedentary, or do you figure it's fine to just stick to your workout program/schedule and call it good? I'd love any advice you all could give!
