My FB journey Thus far

Hello all,

I started FB sometime in late January early February because I wanted to get back in shape and lose some weight. I realized that I gained more than I ever wanted to when I weighed myself at my parents one day(sometimes the scale is a good thing). So I looked up best workout videos on google and FB was in the top 10, I fell in love with them immediately and never looked at another website.

In early February I tweaked my back bad, I had sort of a previous low back problem before but nothing that would keep me up at night and needing to use ice just to get through the night. Thankfully that did notkeep me from exercising, it actually felt better when I exercised.

At first doing the videos was brutal. I remember thinking many times that I was going to "die" I had know idea that I was that out of shape. I had let myself go. I used to play soccer, baseball and any other physically related activity that was available. I used to be able to do push ups and pull ups too, now I hate push ups because I can't do them very well lol. I really didn't know how out of shape I was until I did one of the 1,000 calorie workouts. That was a big mistake lol. I had started having some knee problems, but I didn't take Kellie and Daniels advice about listening to your body and proper form. I was too focused on losing weight. My knees were on fire after that video! I ended up with quadricep tendonitis and I had some arthritis in both knees! Which I didn't know you could get arthritis at a relatively young age (40). I didn't let that stop me either(I took a week off though to let my knees rest), I just switched to low impact, which was and sometimes still is frustrating because I want to be able to jump lol. However, I was still able to lose weight doing low impact stuff so these videos work.

Long story short I have learned a lot about fitness, listening to your body, regaining strength, what muscles do what and how to strengthen them. By going to physical therapy and researching a lot on you tube I have learned that glute strength is essential to back health. So I have noticed an improvement in my back since I have started doing clams and bridges. The vastus medius is essential for knee health and hamstring and glutes. So by doing leg extensions and leg lifts it has helped my legs become stronger. It has been a frustrating journey because I used to be strong and skinny, but now I have to retrain my brain and muscles how to work properly (like doing a squat properly). I just have to remind myself that it took awhile for me to get out of shape so it's going to take awhile to get back in it. It's just interesting that we (the majority) don't pay attention to gaining weight and getting out of shape, but when we start working on it we want immediate results. I have to give myself pep talks daily "it's a lifestyle, not a diet" ""Rome wasn't built in a day" (my mom would say that to me as a kid when I was impatient lol) "Your getting stronger and building endurance" etc. Getting stronger, losing weight, and watching American Ninja Warrior keep me going. Also I will sometimes reward myself with a little bit of coffee with cream after working out if I don't feel motivated. Anyways, that was longer than I intended, thanks for reading :)
