Understanding Proper Protein

Years ago when I was working out and dieting I was told by trainers that 4 -5 ounces of protein at each meal was correct. FB doesn't exactly support this statement. How do I know how much I really should have? If I use the FB calculation I need about 5oz per day...BUT one of the recipes on the website (a turkey soup-1 serv) uses 4 oz of turkey. Just trying to understand Thanks!!
