HKS (Healthy, Kind Support) Accountability Group March 13th
Hello, lovelies, and Happy Thursday! Hope you are all well. This morning i saw that it was getting light outside at 6AM and boy, was it a great feeling! It’s crazy what a difference in mood it’s made, longer days mean i’m outside more, means i feel less like an automaton only living to work. Insert rant about our capitalistic hellscape.
Have you ever seen the movie Office space? It is a painfully accurate representation of what it feels like working in tech. I was listening to a podcast this week, from someone who has not worked in this type of environment, and they were doubtful that anyone would rather work in construction than in a nice office. Really goes to show how much our experiences inform our tastes and readings of art and media, i’d go work the land tomorrow if it were viable. Never had trouble sleeping when i worked the fields for a full day, i’ll tell you that, and you get built in vacation over winter. None of this go go go all the time at all cost. Sure, nothing is perfect, and i have a lot of privilege, but corporate jobs are soul draining.
Ok, i’ll stop ranting for now. Hope today’s decision matrix is useful to some of you, it’s helped me reframe the notion of “giving up” in a new way. Let me know what you are up to and have a great day!
Edited to add link to the movie if you're interested:
