Yesterday I participated in part of the marathon in Frankfurt in Germany as part of a relay team. I am so proud of myself and find it still hard to wrap my head around the fact that it was really me (and not someone else who looked like me) who took part in a running event 🤯. It was a bit emotional for me as it stirred up some old internalized "truths" about my body and self-esteem from a time when I thought my body was just too fat and therefore incapable of being physically active. Today I am bigger than I was at the height of my body issues, but I am so much stronger and more confident.
When my friend asked me two months ago if I want to join their relay team I laughed hard at him bc I only ran about 3 km in 30 min every now and then. But when I heard that there's a shorter relay secttion with only 6 km I was brave and confident enough to believe in my ability to tackle it. And guess what, I succeded. It really means a lot to me to see what my body can do. I did a lot of strength training with FB to prepare mixed with running. I ran 6k in 40 minutes, which is much faster than I've ever run before. And now I'm very happy to share my excitment with you guys ❤
