Perspiration Pals 25 September 2024

Hi there, Pals! I know it’s getting old but it’s rather crazy here so I cheated a little. I started writing this yesterday evening because it’s difficult to take a break at work without someone coming in with a question or asking for a favour.

I decided to start Strong 2 on Monday because, you know, strength training and because I can’t remember the last time I did it. (I could check but what’s the fun in that.) What program are you doing? I’ve also realised that I’ve been a member of FB since 2016 which means that I’ve been working out regularly for 8 years. (Before that I only worked out maybe twice a week for a couple of years) Unfortunately, right now, I feel so bad about myself that I don’t even know what makes me get up at the crack of dawn every morning to work out… I think I’m just really, really stubborn. So when I’m interviewed on my 100th birthday and I have to answer that stupid question every centenarian is asked: What’s your secret? I’d say: Well…. that’s a really original question, I haven’t expected it, let me see… (I’d wait for the interviewer to be flustered/annoyed before I’d continue.) Pure pig-headedness. That’s my secret, my dear. I want my cake now, thank you.

Let’s move on to our fact-finder fragment. A typical piano has over 120,000 parts, of which more than 10,000 move. Pianos also have more than 230 strings and 88 keys, making them one of the most complex instruments in the modern world. Completely unrelated but did you know that the sound of the Big Bang happened on such a low frequency that even if humans were around, they wouldn’t have been able to actually hear it! Also, did you know that Priests doubled as scientists in ancient societies? After 1,800 BCE, Babylonian priests/astronomers were the first to document patterns in the movements of celestial bodies by using maths.

All right, Pals, I need to go now, have an easy day.
