Abs 2 complete - my experience & before/during/after pics
I bought this program years ago but never actually did it completely it until now. I wanted to focus on toning my abs more as well as change up my routine a bit as I felt I was plateuing. I was working out regularly 3-4 times a week plus walks (combo of HIIT, cardio, and occasional strength with an average of one fitnessblender workout a week) before the program. I could only add one image to this post so had to put it all in a collage but I included pics at various points throughout the program. I didn't necessarily lose weight but I also didn't really change much with my eating. I noticed some more definition and felt stronger, more energetic, and more confident by the end of the program. The excitement and consistency of working through the program helped keep me going on stressful work days and gave me an extra boost. I finished it in about 5 weeks instead of 4 due to some traveling and stuff that came up at week 4 at which time I was still active in other ways and decided to postpone the last week.
Pros:
- Helped push me to try different types of workouts that I don't normally do, like more focus on strength training, trying out bored easily workouts and some kickboxing. I added some to favorites that I probably wouldn't have otherwise done and will help me add more variety to my routine! I will definitely be incorporating way more strength training going forward as I realized how important it is and how much my body likes it through this program. I also will be dedicating more to upper body which I had been neglecting before
- A form of accountability and motivation to know the workout is scheduled and I'm working towards something. It felt great not to have to think about what I want to do and to check off the workout complete each day
- The program was very smartly designed. I was worried it wouldn't be challenging enough with most workouts being a 3-4 difficulty level but what they said about modifying it to your needs is very true. I was able to add in some cardio (30-60 extra mins a week usually) or use weights if I felt like I needed a little more. I felt like I was able to push myself enough. I saw what they meant by "work smarter not harder" and more isn't always better
- Despite the focus being on abs the program was very much well rounded with a whole body focus and varied types of workouts, which I really enjoyed. It was more than just an attempt at achieving a certain aesthetic. I learned more about myself and what I and my body like when it comes to exercise
Cons:
- For my lifestyle it was hard to commit to 5-6 days of working out a week. It helped that the workouts were relatively short but I personally find it more sustainable to commit to longer workouts fewer days a week. It was good for this time limited program but going forward I will probably scale back as it was feeling like a lot mentally and physically to keep up with
- I was surprised by how much more hungry I got on the days I did the workouts! especially strength training days, which I always thought of not as super "intense" but honestly is not true. Not necessarily a bad thing but something to watch out for if you're attempting to lose weight. I tried to honor what my body needed but at times was worried about gaining weight with how much I wanted to eat
Anyways thanks if you made it through reading all that! I'm extremely grateful for the fitnessblender team and their dedication to making exercise so accessible. No matter what I try over the years I always come back to you guys and that's when I feel my best and see the most results. I can't thank you enough ❤️
