Looking for a fun and playful way to jazz up your workout routine?! Join me on the mat for a unique flow, that blends movements from yoga, plyometrics, and calisthenics, to provide you with a balanced practice that will challenge your mobility, strength, endurance and flexibility!
This practice offers a mix of foundational and intermediate level, animal-inspired movements that will get your total body moving in ways you may not be accustomed to! The intention behind offering these low-impact, dynamic exercises is to challenge your body’s typical movement patterns for the benefit of physical longevity. As we move cyclically through varying planes of movement, the exercises will progressively build on one another – increasing the complexity and level of total-body involvement. I encourage you to try each level, but remain true to your body and where your work is; you can always modify the complexity and intensity of the workout. I invite you to come as you are, and to approach this practice with curiosity and a child’s like sense of play. 😀
Moving my body in unconventional ways has always resonated with me, moreso than any traditional forms of exercise. I appreciate all the benefits modern exercise has to offer in addition to all that it has taught me. However, the more I can make my exercise feel like play, the more likely I am to remain consistent with moving my body on a daily basis; the more I want to incorporate increasing amounts of movement throughout my day.
This video will not resonate with everyone and that is okay! Maybe lifting weights or going for a jog is play for you, and that is awesome! Maybe this practice makes you feel at home in your body and inspires you to explore further. Maybe none of the aforementioned feels quite right, and you’re still in the exploration of finding what resonates with you. Wherever you are in your fitness journey, your experiences and preferences are valid. My objective as an instructor is not to tell you what play is or is not, but rather to provide samples of how movement can be fun and accessible for all.
I hope this practice challenges your body in new ways that leave you feeling empowered! I hope that you find a sense of present play and inspiration throughout this flow, as well. Let me know in the comments below how this practice lands with you, and if you would like to see more like it!
