NSV: learning to listen to my body

These past few weeks have been really tough for me. I have been sick for weeks with various bugs from traveling and having a kid in daycare. I also have been trying to figure out the pain I’ve been experiencing for years that has been getting worse lately. As a kid I was diagnosed with reflexneurovascular dystrophy and working out typically helps ease the pain. However, lately it’s been making it worse to the point that I can’t put weight on my right side without shooting pain through my leg and back.

I normally would just push through it, but I was really sick so I decided to listen to my body and take it easy. In the past I wouldn’t have stopped. I didn’t want to lose momentum and I was obsessed with making sure I was working out everyday. I’m so glad I’ve listened to my body as my doctor discovered I don’t have RND but a genetic disorder. I haven’t come to terms fully with it (I’m sure I’ll reach out for help when I do), but for me it was a major victory in taking care of myself in a different way. Also learning how and when to listen to my body.

I don’t know if I would have if I hadn't recently watched a video that Kelli talked about her experience with listening to her body and taking the time to heal. I know I’m going to have to take time for myself but I’m thankful to have the FB family for support and motivation. Thank you Kelli for being so honest and open with your experiences. I definitely wouldn’t be where I am now without you all so from the bottom of my heart—thank you!

❤️❤️❤️
