TW: There is some medical talk, but nothing graphic. If you're freaked out by anything medical, skip this one. :)
Hi! Wow, it has been a really long time since I've posted anything here. A couple of years ago, I got very sick with endometriosis and between the pain and the fatigue, I had to stop working out completely. Even stretching was painful for me, so most days a walk around the block was as much as I could manage. I ended up gaining about 30 lbs, but the worst part was that all of my strength and endurance was completely gone. I couldn't pick up my cat and hold her anymore, let alone pick up both of my cats at the same time like I used to. Forget about carrying the groceries in in one trip. I could barely open a jar!
I had surgery about 10 weeks ago, where they removed all my adhesions and un-stuck the organs that had glued themselves together and to my abdominal wall. My pain has practically vanished and my fatigue is also improving.
I've been doing some self-scheduled FB workouts here and there over the past month, slowly working my way back into some kind of a consistent schedule. I was actually very pleased to find that I still have the dedication and "habit" of working out, so that once the pain barrier was lifted I had to MAKE myself take rest days!
In my month of just easing back into it, I've already found my strength slowly coming back. My core is still very weak, but I did also have 4 incisions in my abdomen, so my muscles took a long time to heal from that. But the other day, I picked up my cat and held her for a few minutes - her face was so funny, it was like she forgot I could do that!
I'm starting FB Strong R2 on Friday, and really looking forward to it. It sucks to be starting over as a beginner again, but losing everything I gained only taught me to be more appreciative of what my body CAN do. I think I'll come back stronger than ever. :)
