Explain the calendar to me

I have a job where I sometimes work less than traditional hours. I'm usually pretty good at getting my workouts in regardless, but sometimes it's just impossible. I'd like to follow the programs, but sometimes need to move rest days fowards/backworks to work around my work schedule. So far I've only been able to figure out how to move the entire program? I don't want to change all the days, just a few. I tried to just add the program to the calendar and follow the general order, ignoring the days. But it doesn't want to let me do that either. When I try to mark it complete on a non scheduled day it won't let me. So I'm having trouble picking up where I left off. Please tell me I'm missing something?
