Although I've been practicing mindfulness for a while, Candice's article presents it in a very easy to digest format and provides excellent practical tips for how to reap the benefits of meditation/ mindfulness in just 13 minutes a day.
The tips she gives are definitely helpful, and I plan to implement them to get more out of mindfulness and increase brain health.
In the article, Candice mentions that mindfulness can be practiced while working out, which is something that one doesn't often put together. Surprisingly, mindfulness while working out began to happen naturally while doing FB Low Impact, R2 almost a year ago - all the Pilates and mind-on-muscle prompts combined w/ new limitations due to injury transformed "working out" into a new experience of practicing purposeful mindfulness in workouts. And that mindfulness makes a huge difference in the effectiveness and overall experience of working out. It's definitely hard to ho-hum through a workout at half effort or be easily bored when paying close attention to activating each of the muscles involved and utilizing the mind-body connection throughout an entire workout. ;) I can't imagine working out w/ utilizing mindfulness now - it makes it a totally different experience. :)
