Having awoken an hour earlier than planned, thankfully, there was plenty of time to fit in today's scheduled UB strength w/ negatives + cardio intervals. The workout was brutally good, especially when combined w/ the EC UB burnout. :)
For the freestyle cardio intervals, used a variety different exercises in lieu of repeating jump-roping and jumping jacks, and followed along w/ the kickboxing (despite not usually enjoying kickboxing) b/c it's so effective at quickly raising HR. Some of the cardio exercises chosen today, besides jump rope and jumping jack variations, were: Lateral Leaps (done more like speed skating), Jumping Torso Twists, Pendulum Swings, High Knees, Butt Kickers, Russian Twists, Power Skips, Runners, and Switchfoot Jumps.
For the UB burnout, due to shoulder issues, after completing the 1st group of regular push-ups (2 rounds), substituted wide and narrow grip chest presses for wide and narrow grip push-ups, and substituted tricep dips for tricep push-ups. Those exercises use the same muscle groups, but are much easier on the shoulder joint and also allow for finely regulating the amount of weight to make them appropriately challenging - not too easy or difficult.
As Daniel said during the cool-down, "You know you had a really intense UB routine when you can't get your arms to your head." - so true! And thankfully, the beautiful snow is shoveled by someone else, so the arms won't fall off completely, lol! ;)
Hope your week is off to a good start, and happy Blending everyone!
