I’ve never been able to do push-ups, and I probably never will. (Please, no toxic positivity here. Don’t tell me that I can do “anything.” For me, an important part of fitness is challenging myself while also accepting my body’s very real limitations.)
But when I modify, by doing push-ups on my knees, I end up with back pain for about a week after.
So…what do I do? Am I doing modified push-ups wrong? Do I just skip those intervals or some do some other exercise entirely?
When you skip or replace an exercise do you ever feel ashamed, like you’re not really doing it? Like the version you’re doing is so different from what the trainer is doing that it doesn’t even count?
