For those who are naturally inflexible, despite many years of regular stretching, and not being a fan of static hold stretching routines, the hardest workout of the Abs Challenge Week 1 was definitely today's active stretching routine/workout with Daniel, no joke! :)
Compared to HIIT, this active stretching workout ranks a 5/5 for its difficulty and nearly constant "discomfort, not pain." There's nothing quite like 20+ minutes filled with 30 second intervals of discomfort which feel like they last an eternity, lol! ;)
It's a love-hate relationship with stretching, much preferring the fluid, dynamic yoga-style stretching routines to the 30-60 second static or active stretching routines, except for the short cool-down and stretching at the end of a workout when one is already hot, sweaty, and much more limber and relaxed than usual.
Overall, in Week 1, surprisingly, this workout was the most challenging, "discomfortable" workout of all, and it was much needed even though it lacks a bit of the fun factor of the other workouts from this week. ;)
Having taken a sneak peak at next week's workouts, it looks like Week 2 should be a fun, challenging week of Abs work - whoop! :D
