What am I doing wrong? Looking for ideas to stay motivated.
TLDR: How do you stay motivated with eating plans?
Hi everyone,
I have been working out with FB five days per week since January 1st. I have done FB Abs, FB Blend, and am currently on week 3 of FB Sweat. I also did a week or two of independent FB workouts. On Saturdays and Sundays I do 25-40 minutes of yoga each day. I walk frequently because I have two 3-year-olds.
My issue is that my weight loss has really stalled and I know the problem is food. I'm 5'2 and in January I was 158 pounds, the highest I've ever weighed (other than during pregnancy, which was just a few pounds more). I went down to 153 by the end of February, but am now back up to 155. My goal is to get to 138. I was 142 when I got pregnant, btw.
For Jan & Feb I was doing the No-S diet, which is basically "no snacks, no sweets, no seconds except on days that start with S (weekends + special days like your birthday). You just eat one plate of food per meal. Whatever you want. I really like this, as it tackles my key problems, which are portions and mindless eating.
I already eat a diet of whole foods. I never drink soda and I rarely eat processed foods. I cook almost all of my meals (we get takeout once or twice a week at most). Most of the standard nutritional advice doesn't really apply to me because I already do it.
But lately I have slipped a lot. I know what I am doing wrong. I'm not following No-S. I'm mindlessly stuffing food in my face between meals, having seconds when I don't need them, and allowing myself to have treats. Work and life have been hard, so I think maybe that's why this is happening.
I know calorie counting works but my job is really demanding right now and I worry that if I do calorie counting I will obsess about it and allow it to take up a lot of my time (as I did in the past). That's why I prefer something like No-S, because it really does teach me that my body doesn't need as much food as I sometimes put in it. When I've been following No-S I actually notice if I over indulge on the weekend. It doesn't feel good, physically, and it re-affirms my commitment.
Will adding one hour of walking per day help speed things up?
This is all over the place, but I'm feeling disappointed in my weight loss stalling and looking for advice on how to stay motivated and on track.
By the way, physically I am stronger, and I actually LOVE my workouts, so that is a huge change from when I started.
Thanks for any advice or commiseration and sorry this was so long!
