Well my motivation hit a wall this week and suddenly, showing up for workouts feels like pulling teeth. That’s okay; I know it will pass. In the meantime, I managed to hit 3 workouts in a week where I felt sluggish, anxious, even depressed. That’s really great. Honestly if I hadn’t publicly committed to finish FB Complete, I might have skipped a lot more, so thanks to the community for always creating a positive, supportive environment.
I felt the same sluggishness today, so I started my workout at 5:30 am, right after I woke up - trying to minimize the opportunity to overthink this! I enjoyed a cup of coffee and jumped into a 35 minute workout for Day 17. Now off to eat a tasty breakfast and a rare sunny day in the PNW.
I share my own motivation slumps (this is a very minor one compared to what I’m capable of lol) because I think we all have them. They’re totally normal. I think losing the fear, sense of panic or even shame around the ebbs and flows helps to take away their power & break up a harmful “all or nothing” mentality. Everything varies, everything fluctuates. So do we! Just because we’re feeling one way strongly on one day or week doesn’t mean that feeling will last forever, or that we have somehow *become* that passing feeling (i.e. “I’m feeling lazy = I am lazy” or understanding that “I don’t feel like doing this today” does not mean “I’m not capable of this, ever”).
And guess who needs and deserves your support during times of low motivation? You do.
Don’t forget:
New free workout this Sunday
New Plus workout on Monday
And also, you might be excited to hear that the theme of February’s FB Plus Challenge is FB Booty! It’s a good one - watch for that 2/1/21.
Thanks for listening to my early morning ramble 🙃 I hope you all have a good weekend!
