FB Plus Legacy Player - First Generation Chromecast Devices
Hi FB Plus Blenders!
Today we pushed a few new video player settings 🎉. You can see these by visiting your account page and changing the Default Video Player drop down (see screen shot). Here’s a summary of the new options:
Ads-Free Legacy
This player has all the features of the main Ads-Free Player, but has better support for first generation Chromecast devices. If you are unsure if you have a gen 1:
Open the Google Home App and you should be able to click the Chromecast device (it may be named Living Room TV or similar).
There should be a gear icon; click it.
Towards the bottom, it should show your cast firmware version.
If you see 1.36.159268, then it’s gen 1.
Ads-Free Beta
This is the same player as the main FB Plus Ads-Free Player. It will be used to test out new features before they roll out to the main player.
Ads-Free
Our default player that most FB Plus members use. It has more optimizations for newer Chromecast devices (gen 3, ultra).
If you have a first generation Chromecast, I recommend trying out the Ads-Free Legacy player. And, of course, if you have any questions, we are happy to answer them.
