Friday Motivation—Lifting!

Strength training often gets a bad rap, but it has the power to reshape your body, vastly improve your health, and increase your resting metabolism.

Strength training isn't just picking up heavy things and putting them down; done properly, it builds functional strength, using many smart and varied styles of lifting and ranges of motion that are unbelievably effective.

In fact, strength training is the only scientifically-proven way to boost metabolism around the clock; the lean muscle mass that you build requires more calories to sustain, making it easier to reach and stay at a healthy bodyweight. Believe it or not, strength training sessions can be more effective for fat loss than 90+ minutes on a treadmill or elliptical, as long as you’re willing to push yourself.

And, you’ve heard us say this before, but women, don’t avoid lifting! There are just too many great health benefits that you don’t want to miss out on, without the risk of getting bulky.

If you’re wondering where to start, we have a lot of resources geared toward strength training to check out, from over 200 free individual strength training videos, to two great strength programs (FB Mass and FB Strong), and even a great new FB+ Challenge geared toward strength.
