Good day, Blenders, wherever you are! If you are on the northern hemisphere, happy first day of summer to you! Hello southern hemisphere, too, of course, and happy first day of winter! During this first official weekend of summer I have the privilige to be your ghost this weekend and talk a bit about the important things in life. Either north or south on this planet, our days must be filled with some of the basics: workouts, food and relaxation. So what are you all up to today? How are you filling all these minutes of daylight on the northern part of the globe, or during the short period of time until it gets dark again? Are you working out today, or are you taking a break from exercise?
I think I'm giving my body a bit of a break. No weights or HIIT for me. I had a long walk yesterday on the beach and in the sand dunes, to check on my favourite bird family again. The time the juvenile Kestrels are hanging out in the area of the birdhouse comes to an end. Yesterday, father Kestrel was watching his kids, but he didn't hunt or feed them. I guess he was waiting for the girls to try to get something to eat themselves. It was time for them to start exercising a bit! When the kids start hunting themselves, it won't be long before they will find new territory to live, and then the Kestrel family saga will come to an end. So I am enjoying it while it lasts and I'll just share another Kestrel photo again. One that brings me to my workout today, because this pic is about balance, don't you think? Doesn't this one look like a prima ballerina, landing like that and trying to hold her balance on that fence?
I am more than a bit challenged in the balance department, so it's a good thing there is a brutal abs workout on my calender today. Maybe one day, I'll be as gracious as the Kestrel kid on my picture today. I've never been a miracle of flexibility and balance and there is a FB routine that comes to mind during which I'm never able to keep my lungs open, the whole workout through, because I'm too busy kissing the floor. Ever tried this one?
Enough about balance and workout challenges, because I still have food to talk about. Whether we exercise or not, we all need to refuel. What my usual dinner consists of must be common knowledge by now, but I know there are many great and creative cooks among you guys. So tell me, show me, or do both, if you like. What will be filling your pots, pans, plates or bowls and eventually your stomachs? Make me jealous!
I think that will cover all the basics. That means I'm saying goodbye for now. Thank you for checking in with me today, and make the most of the long hours of daylight today or the few you'll be getting. I'll talk to you soon!
