Daily Check-in: Monday, March 23rd + Community Challenge Talk!
Hey there my awesome FB Fam! How was the weekend? We were certainly treated to some nice ghosting from Lynna's fur crew, right?^^ A very good laugh from Lynna, so thanks again! Your ghosting was worth every exclamation point. And that goes for anyone who would like to ghost. It will continue! :)
And as the title for today's check-in implies, let me get right to it and ask who here is interested in a community challenge? I'm going to assume the answer is yes. Kim mentioned on Friday that we should do one. So here I am getting the ball rolling, because we are kinda overdue for a community challenge, yeah? But not just your standard one week challenge. We are going for two weeks similar to the plus challenge to help keep us sane during these trying times as many of us are staying at home. It will be focused on Strength training very much like Strong, and to make it even more interesting, the duration of the workouts will follow a pyramid structure. So to try and explain; Monday will start at 55-60 minutes long, Tuesday 40-45 mins, Wednesday peaking at 25-30, then Thursday is Tuesdays time, and just like Monday, the Friday workout will end being around 50-60.
Does all this make sense? Well, I'm not done yet..when we get to week 2, we will reverse that pyramid and start Monday at the 25-30 minute mark. Tuesday and Thursdays time never changes at 40-45, and Wednesday will peak with 55 to 60 minutes, savvy?^^ ..Eh pretty sure I may have lost you with all those numbers and days of the week. Just keep re-reading until it makes sense, guys. Or just ask questions.
Here's an easy and fun task for you; All I need from you guys is to tell me, in your check-in today, what your favorite strength routines are. Me and Kim will handle the rest. ((Kim, I'm thinking after we get everyone's suggestions, that you can create options to vote on for the 1st week and ready to vote on either by your own post or posting in the comments at the Wednesday Check-in. And then on Thursday I will have some routines for the second week to vote on. Haha, did I make this complicated enough yet? Do you have a better way? Did I miss something? Let me know!))
So to recap, you guys share (and don't be shy, we got two weeks to plan here) what strength routines you'd like to see in the challenge! Come back on the Wednesday and Thursday check-ins to vote for weeks 1 and 2 respectively. The idea is to start the challenge on Monday, March 30th. Oh! And also tell me what name you like for the challenge. The ideas right now are: The Strong Pyramids of FB, The Cabin Fever Party, Mental Muscles Camp, Isolation Fusion, Pyramidistic FBscape, and Bear Isolation. (Thanks Madga for some name suggestions, and thank you Kim for bringing up getting a community challenge going!)
Whew. Okay, now back to your regularly scheduled check-in, let's get to the Monday at foot. Or on hand. What workouts do you have and ready to push play on? What couches need your attention? I'm starting on week 2 of the March 2020 Challenge from Plus. It's upper body strength today, so I'm ready to lift! But you do the thing that is your thing.. Same goes with eating. I actually haven't had the greatest success with clean eating last week, so I hope to remedy that this week and take a scrub brush to my food. Mostly. Got to get it cleaner to feeling better. I'm not exactly talking mental here. I've been down that road of how I eat dictating how I feel good or bad. I'm finally at a place where if I eat dirty (haha, can that be a thing? Dirty eating? #Eatdirtyfood😂) I am okay and know I will get back on track. Plus if I keep eating junk, I feel lousy and sluggish so it kinda solves itself. ..Okay, okay, I should've just started and ended with what are you guys eating today? I'm making beef stroganoff. So, quite simply, yum. What's your yum?
And whatever is going on, the moving, eating, doing and not doing; I have a big and bright flower for you today. It's a kind of False Dandelion. The black flecks near the center are a dead giveaway, but just because it is false doesn't mean it lacks true beauty! It's also called a Carolina Desert-Chicory so it can have a name more than just saying what it is not.. And with that said and done, stay strong my friends. Try and maintain that SD6 (That's my abbreviation for Social Distancing at 6 feet in case you are wondering) as we dive into another week. It's easy to fall into fear, but if we stay calm and collected, and help each other, it helps. And we will get through this. Now let's try for a safe and happy day.
