Weekend (ghost) check-in: Saturday, March 7th

Good day, Blendfriends!

Here we are at the start of another weekend. I hope I find you well and ready to make the best of it, whatever that may mean for you. Good days come in as many different shapes and sizes as fitness :)

So let’s start with a simple yet important question – what makes you happy today?

For me these days, it’s noticing that spring is really near! Isn’t nature a fantastic mood lifter? When it’s waking up all around and you feel woken up too. I love it :)

The pic shows the rosemary on my balcony blooming. I planted it 6 years ago when my father died because it was his favorite plant and spice and smell. I planted 5 of them actually, all gotten from the same source, all looking the same at first, all given exactly the same treatment, but only this one survived first year. And how magnificently alive it still is. More than a meter high (was shorter than a palm when I got it) and probably the same in width, and blooming so many many times a year I can barely keep track. I admire it because it survived ME :D I’ve never been much of green thumb, so I guess this smart Darwinian fella decided it needs to adapt to less than perfect conditions (me forgetting to water it, or do things people who know how to take care of plants do) and thrive in them so that’s exactly what it does! And that makes me happy.

Back to you. What makes you happy today? Think of it, share if you like, or just smile for yourself, but do dig up that (at least) one thing.

It could be a workout? I know I can rely on that to be a highlight even on worst of days. The precious tool to reconnect with yourself. So what do you have planned in that department? Are you sweating today, lifting, jumping, stretching, chilling? I have the recovery day of Week 1 of Blend on schedule, one of the 3-day flexibility videos. I must admit I often don’t want to change into workout clothes, set up the space, set aside the time etc, for doing “just” a recovery workout. If I’m already on the mat, all set to do something, I often end up wanting to do more. Then yesterday there was this article Chartgi shared here https://www.fitnessblender.com/community/discussion/17744/nike-got-it-right and I’m sure many of us recognized that phenomenon, but today it got me thinking, yes it’s great for when you lack motivation to start but how does it play for when you need to stop? How does it influence the “listen to your body” thing if obviously your body will want to move (more) as a result of you willfully starting the action of moving… but if you listened to it *before* starting it would have told you to stay put. Just food for thought, I’m not going anywhere with this :D Except that for myself, I decided today I will do exactly and only as scheduled, a recovery video. Shoutout to FB Blend btw. First week has flown by and felt great. Even better when done it company! How are you liking it so far, program buddies? And those not Blend-ing, where are you in your programs or freestyling?

And last but not least, we must talk about food of course. I’ll make (roast) fish with potatoes today. That’s it, nothing fancy. Might throw in a branch of rosemary, I have it handy ;) … Obviously, I lack food conversation skills (I’m excellent at eating though :D) but do share your undoubtedly more interesting culinary plans with us!

Okay, we can wrap it up I think.

Stay awesome, everybody! Looking forward to reading you :)

p.s. as you may have guessed already (by just one date in the title), I’ll be back tomorrow.
