FB30 Round 4 update

So I’m now about halfway through FB30 Round 4 and thought I’d share with everyone my thoughts on the programme thus far:

Firstly I’m really enjoying the workouts themselves. For me it’s been a good mix of HIIT/cardio and strength, and a fairly thorough distribution between body areas. Particularly, because the programme has been so well planned I’ve never found that having a sore upper body, for example, has hindered my following workout - although I have spaced the days a bit more to fit in with my own schedule so I don’t know how much having extra days off will have factored in here.

I like not having to worry about what workout I’m doing on a given day. Having the video ready-selected for me saves me having to make a choice myself so ultimately saves time and effort. Also I don’t feel concerned about overly focusing on one area of the body over another (I have a bad habit of preferably training my lower body!) as I know everything been accounted for in the programme carefully. No more avoiding my nemesis of ab workouts 😂

I also like that the average time falls around half an hour each day - this is one of the main reasons I chose this programme. Knowing that the workout length is totally doable makes me more likely to actually do it and also I’m more likely to push past any feelings of not wanting to workout, a trap that is all too easy to fall into when the lure of staying in my warm bed is strong haha. Plus, the excuse of being busy kinda falls flat when it’s only half an hour or so, which I would easily spend watching Netflix!

Similarly I like that I can always do an extra workout if I have the energy for it. With the workouts only being around half an hour it means I can call it a day after the programmed workout, or I can decide to add another short video on top. I’ve also added workouts in myself sometimes on days when I feel I had the energy (usually just extra stretching or a short bout of cardio kickboxing) - the flexibility allowed by the programme is awesome!

I also feel like the programme has forced me out of my habit of simply reusing my “tried and tested” routines by having videos I haven’t done before. Although I do have several routines I use frequently I’m always aware of constantly redoing those particular workouts, and worry about not actually tuning in properly if that makes sense? So being thrown into previously unknown routines did make me slightly uncomfortable at first but there hasn’t been a day that I’ve particularly hated - so it’s nice to expand my collection of regular workouts and to also realise I’m capable of doing them.

So far I’m very happy I chose this programme, and genuinely I’m struggling to think of a criticism (other than the fact that you can’t just watch the video without actually doing it, ha.) I haven’t noticed a huge change in how I look but I feel like there’s more definition in my arms and legs, and maybe my stomach is a tiny bit leaner. However I’m feeling better in myself, and it has only been two rather spaced out weeks worth of the programme - being realistic it’s not long enough yet to see any significant differences. I can’t wait to see how I’m feeling when I’ve completed it in its entirety!

I now want to start thinking about what to do when I finish the programme - I’m trying to choose between completing the 5 day challenge for busy people given how much I’ve enjoyed this programme, re-starting the FB30 programme, or trying Blend for the first time? I’m currently leaning towards trying out Blend for something a bit different (plus I’m intrigued by the option of extra credit!) If anyone has any advice or suggestions I’d be happy to hear them!

Thanks for reading this ramble, it turned out rather longer than anticipated!
