To Eat or Not to Eat... Before a Workout

I need feedback/science proof/experience stories on eating (or not) before a workout. I am currently doing 16/8 (fast 16 hours, eat 8 hours) intermittent fasting for the 2nd time around and want to know what other FBers do before a workout. I typically aim to workout between 10 and 11 in the morning and start my eating window around 12. My question is, would it be better for me to move my workouts to the afternoon after I've had some fuel in me, or does it really matter?

There are days when I feel really energized and have no problem smashing out a workout, pre-eating window. Then, there are other days when I feel like my energy is just gone and I'm shaky and a bit nauseous after a workout.

What's your guys' routine with eating/workouts?
