Wet, but beautiful 29k bike ride plus setting new goal!
Off we went on the bikes this morning in spite of the rain... After the crossing on the ferry the weather got pretty miserable! The various shades of orange and brown, of the ferns and the bracken on the heathland, along my favourite cycle route were amazing though and cheered me up. We took a new route which included a long, actually very long (1k+) slope with some really steep bits. As I had to get off twice to walk two really steep bits, I decided: right, that will be my goal for 2020.... I want to be able to cycle up that monster without having to get off and walk!!! (Well, I will have to get off the bike to open a wildlife gate, but other than that) goal setðŸ¤ðŸ˜±ðŸ¥´ðŸ¤£
Was I glad to get to our favourite pub for lunch. They had an open fire and if I could have, I would have sat down right in it. But taking wet gear off and draping it over the radiator and drying my butt in front of the fire was a satisfactory enough alternative. After my favourite (very English) Ploughman’s lunch it was still raining but we decided to get back on the bikes. After a while the rain stopped, so we went for a 4.5k walk through the dunes, along the beach and through the heathland, just to look at the changes brought about by all the heavy rain in recent weeks. The photos show how wet the area is, I couldn’t quite capture the colours though. By the time we got home the cycling distance totalled 29k.... definitely a #workoutcomplete.
