Gluteal imbalance and one side is SORE

Hi all,

I've noticed over the past few weeks that whenever I do a pilates workout, my right glute is very sore (with some sciatic pain triggered) while my left glute isn't sore at all. I've been trying to read up on both Piriformis Syndrome causing sciatic, and Gluteal Imbalance (Or Gluteal Amnesia) causing one side to be weaker.

What I can't quite figure out is...if my right glute is super sore, then is it my right side that is weak? Or is it actually my left glute that is weak and my right side is sore because it is compensating for the other side?

Also, any advice on how to address this appreciated!!
