Neck strain after waking

Happy Sunday everyone

I'm a bit frustrated as this is the 3rd weekend in a row I have woken up with a stiff neck, im not sleeping any different, I'm not working out any different the only thing is maybe an extra 3 hours sleep as its the weekend, but again I do this all year round when I'm not working Mon - Fri I don't get it, is it because its getting colder? I havn't had it any other year though, is anyone else experienceing the same thing? Any tips on how to avoid it? Its really really annoying me! 2 weeks ago it was the left side, last week the right and now its the left side again, grrrr! Still going to do my workout today as its core day and I only do it once a week but jeeze! I always give myself 2 rest days a week so its not overtraining, I'm not lifting any differently either, also since last week I have been stretching my neck more but still hasnt prevented it.
