Lifting heavy!!

Over a period of time, the amount of weight that you lift should be increased right? But I am unable to go beyond 10kg per hand for squats (I started with 5kg and then 7.5kg!) The 12.5 kg dumbbell I am unable to bring on my shoulders on my own (can squat if somebody helps me putting them there 😝). And when I have the dumbbells by the side, I just cannot squat!! Can somebody please suggest how I can lift heavier?
