low back pain

First I want to say that I am a fitness blender devotee. I have been doing these workouts for the past 3 years and love them. Over the past year as I have increased the amount of weight I use I notice I am getting some intermittent low and mid back spasms at night especially when I try to turn over. Today I saw an article from another source entitled "7 Exercises you should never do again". Among those exercises were supermans and upright rows. Yesterday I was doing supermans as part of my fitnessblender workout and last night I had spasms in my lower back. I would love Kelli and Daniel to weigh in on this and to hear others' thoughts.
