I've been with FB for a while now and I found I had to plan my workouts for when my kids were either definitely, FOR SURE, asleep or out of the house. It always seemed that if they were in the house they would hear my workouts start-up and find every excuse under the sun to come and "visit" me while I was working out. Unfortunately, I would be a total bear towards them because I couldn't handle having my workouts interrupted (especially if it was during a HIIT workout).
So, I decided I was going to get them in on the action. To be honest, I thought it was going to be a fight every day to get them to even get ready for a workout let alone actually try during the videos. Yes, we're only 6 days into the Low Impact Program but so far they are loving it and I haven't had to ask them more than once to get ready.
Before we started the program I talked with them and said they do not have to do everything perfectly - all they have to do is try and we're going to show grit (something that my daughter's grade 4 teacher is teaching the class about - kind of like a motto). My 6 year old likes to talk and be funny (of course farts make a daily joke at some point in the workout) but he's at least moving.
I do take the time to pause the video if I need to show them proper form so they don't hurt themselves, but other than that they are able to follow along pretty well. They really look forward to the strength videos (we've done 1 so far, I think) - they use 1-2lb dumbbells, or no weight - and do not at all like the 1 kickboxing video but it is WAY out of their comfort zone.
Working out with my kids is FUN!
