The Dish
This simple smoothie bowl is a true treat, and a great way to start the day. Plain greek yogurt and bananas are pureed smooth (using either a blender or food processor) and seasoned with cocoa powder, honey, and vanilla. The toppings are a vibrant and nutritious combination of banana slices, dried cherries, sliced almonds, flax seeds, and mint. A well-rounded mix for a nice, balanced, delicious breakfast.
Hacking This Recipe: The smoothie bowl base can be made a day or two in advance and kept refrigerated until you are ready to assemble. Vegan yogurt and agave nectar can be substituted in this recipe for a yummy vegan alternative.

Ingredients
2 cups (300 g) plain greek yogurt
2 tablespoons (15 g) unsweetened cocoa powder
2 tablespoons (30 ml) honey
3 each (390 g) bananas
1 teaspoon (5 ml) vanilla extract
1/2 cup (60 g) dried cherries
1/4 cup (30 g) sliced almonds
2 tablespoons (20 g) flax seeds
2 tablespoons (.5 g) fresh mint, chopped
Preparation
- Place yogurt, cocoa, honey, 2 bananas (260 g), and vanilla extract in the bowl of a food processor or blender and puree until smooth.
- Slice remaining banana into thin slices.
- Transfer smoothies to bowls and top with banana slices, cherries, almonds, flax seeds, and mint.
Vegetarian and Vegan Modifications: Feel free to substitute your favorite vegan yogurt alternatives for the traditional Greek yogurt in this recipe. You can also swap the honey for agave in this recipe too.
